At Mid America, we strive to have our patients’ health at it's best. One way we measure this is by monthly lab draws. Below are graphs representing some of our average lab values over a six month period.
Kt/V is the measurement of dialysis adequacy, or how well dialysis is cleaning the blood. Guidelines state a Kt/V of 1.2 or greater is best for patient health. As you can see, at Mid-America, our patients’ Kt/Vs exceed recommendations!

Urea Reduction Ratio, or URR is another measurement of dialysis adequacy. For this measure, values of 65 or higher are best for patients. Our patients’ Urea Reduction Ratios are consistently higher than the minimum, meaning their blood is being more than adequately cleaned of toxins.

Hemoglobin is the measurement of how well your red blood cells can supply your body with oxygen. If hemoglobin falls below the KDOQI recommendation of between 11-12g/dl, the patient can feel short of breath and weak, amongst other things. Mid America’s patient averages are well above the minimum standards.
